A city to discover
Amiens is crossed by the Somme. It is known for its Gothic cathedral and its nearby medieval belfry. Cafes and restaurants line the alleys of the Saint-Leu district. The city's canals are dotted with floating gardens, the "hortillonnages". The Picardy museum exhibits works of art and antiques spanning several centuries. The Maison Jules Verne now houses a museum that evokes the life, work and public action of the writer, who composed more than thirty novels there.
In its natural setting in the Val d'Authie, between sky and water, it includes the cloister buildings and a remarkable wooded park. The entire 21 hectare site is classified as a Historic Monument
